Szwejbka Changes Party Frustration with the status quo has led one member of the Jamestown City Council to abandon the political party of which he has been a member since the mid-1970s.
City Councilman Steve Szwejbka, the city's Ward 1 councilman, said Monday he has left the Democratic Party and has instead cast his lot with the Independence Party.
''It was a difficult decision,'' Szwejbka said.
